Perched peacefully on the banks of the Perfume River, Thiên Mụ Pagoda (Heavenly Lady Pagoda) is one of the oldest and most iconic landmarks in Huế, Vietnam. Built in 1601 by Lord Nguyễn Hoàng, the first Nguyễn lord of southern Vietnam, the pagoda was inspired by a local legend about a celestial lady who foretold the construction of a spiritual site on the hill.

Over the centuries, Thiên Mụ has undergone multiple renovations and played a vital role in Vietnamese history — from the Nguyễn Dynasty's imperial era to the Buddhist movements of the 20th century. Its most striking feature, the seven-story Phước Duyên Tower, was built in 1844 under Emperor Thiệu Trị and has become a symbol of Huế.
